>>> DJ Hazard <<<

There are few artists who can claim to have shot to Drum & Bass fame as quickly, or as succinctly as Birmingham based DJ Hazard. In just a few short years this incredibly talented producer has knocked out enough dancefloor bombs to be considered a serious sonic terrorist, adding to the noise pollution problems of neighbourhoods around the world with his uncompromisingly tight beats and earth-quaking basslines.

Originally noticed by D&B legend DJ Hype while producing a few tracks for DJ SS’ Formation Records, Hazard was soon snapped up by the Playaz boss once he realised the young Birmingham based talent wasn’t under contract. There began a partnership that has rocketed DJ Hazard to the very top of his game, both in terms of producing immense dancefloor destroying tracks that eager DJs clamour to get their hands on during promo stage, and his own career as a DJ which has seen him travel the globe, doling out masses of bass-fuelled pain to unsuspecting ravers worldwide.

Soaking up the bass-heavy sounds of Ragga and Hip Hop like a musical sponge in his early youth, Hazard found he was drawn into the sub-low hitting basslines and the infectious cut up drums of early Jungle during the early ‘90s and, like many youths at that time, began to collect those addictive slabs of black crack. Funding his love of buying and playing records by working in factories, washing up in restaurants and delivering pizzas, Hazard put everything he had into following a path that he loved and his hard work paid off.

>>> Kenny Ken <<<

started DJing back in 1989,before that he was workin as a ticket collector and railman on the London Underground.He got into playing music by going to the early warehouse parties like Genesis, Sunrise, Biology, Energy and so on. I used to go to all the so called incrowd parties where DJs like Grooverider, Fabio, Frankie Valentine, Tony Wilson, Paul Oakenfold, Bones and Carl Cox used to play. It was while going to these all night parties and then having to go straight to work that he decided to try being a DJ.

I went out and bought myself a set of Technics and started to practice and was given a really good mixing lesson by Dean who was one half of Dem 2 who were big back then. I started of by playin Acid House and Garage at small gigs for my mates Jimmy Evans and Steven Mills(thanks guys). I started playing regular on the radio on a pirate station called Centerforce which I left after about a year and moved to Dance FM along with DJs like Mr C and Rob Atkinson.One night I was at a Genesis rave and Lenny Dee hadnt turned up and the DJ who was playing had another gig to go to so I begged Wayne the promoter to let me go home and get my records, it’ll only take me five minutes. I came back with a converted milkcrate full of records and got behind the decks which is when my bottle went a bit cos now I’m on the best party at that time, infront of a massive crowd of hardcore ravers. I played for about half hour and played well before Lenny turned up. That was when I decided to leave my job and start Djing full time.

>>>>>SERUM<<<<<

A combination of hard graft and over 10 years of experience in DJ-ing and production has seen Serum rise from relative obscurity into being one of the most prolific of the new breed of dnb producers. His mix of vintage jungle and futuristic modern jump-up has shown widespread appeal, with tracks being picked up by many of the scene’s longest standing brands, such as Dread, Creative Source, Grid and Timeless, as well as many of the scene’s freshest up and coming labels.

Serum’s career in dnb began after being spotted by veteran producer Ray Keith, and signed exclusively to the legendary Dread imprint. The 4 years that followed saw him releasing a string of singles and EPs, and remixing classic tracks like “Sing Time” and “Girls Dem Want it”. Working with Ray Keith allowed Serum to learn what the crowd wanted, giving him the knowledge and skills to create tracks that smash the dance floor. His biggest release on the label, “Dub Dread” came in 2005, which was played by Andy C, and became the title track for a string of mix albums on Dread.

Early last year, Serum made the decision to branch out into working with other labels. Since then he has gone from strength to strength, with a string of high quality releases and remixes that have been championed by Fabio, Randall, Andy C, Friction, Dillinja, Marky, Bryan G, Ray Keith, Twisted Individual and many more. 2009 is looking to be even bigger, with remixes lined up for Twisted Individual, Top Cat, Liondub, General Degree and DJ Escape, as well as collaborations with Bladerunner, DJ Vapour, Steppa & Kitcha and of course a new batch of solo tracks both as Serum, and his alias, Iron Hands.
